Mahmood Azam is a senior judicial officer with over 20 years of dedicated service in the district judiciary of Punjab. He began his judicial career in 2002 as a Civil Judge and has since held several significant judicial and academic positions, including Senior Civil Judge, Additional District & Sessions Judge, and Senior Instructor at the Punjab Judicial Academy. He is currently serving as Director Instructions at the Federal Judicial Academy, Islamabad.
He holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree and is an accredited mediator from the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), United Kingdom. During his career, he has remained actively involved in judicial capacity building and the professional development of judges and other stakeholders in the justice sector. As Senior Instructor at the Punjab Judicial Academy, Mr. Azam played a key role in designing, planning, and delivering a broad range of training programs. These included specialized courses on civil and criminal law, gender-based violence, and interpretation of revenue and land records. He also contributed to the incorporation of contemporary legal topics-such as forensic science and the role of artificial intelligence in judicial processes-into the Academy's curriculum.
Mr. Azam is deeply committed to improving the quality of judicial education through innovative teaching methods, the use of digital technologies, and a focus on outcome-based learning. His work is guided by a strong commitment to fairness, accountability, and continuous enhancement of the justice delivery system.
